John Mayer, Paintings, March & April 2012
The current exhibit at First Citizens Gallery features the artwork of artist John Mayer. This show encompasses the wide range of John's exploration into various media: oils, acrylics, ink, airbrush, sand, wood, glass, and found objects. The subject matter shows his passion and love for nature and adventure. Included are his realistic renditions of turtles, stones, and water along with more spontaneous treatment of media in his "dreamscapes" and "sand poems". A resident of Whitewater, John recently retired from Mundelein High School in Illinois where he taught art and coached gymnastics. He is now reinventing himself as a fine artist. "Fusing the technical with the spontaneous, I hope to arrive with a new voice in my art as the media come together to help express the wonder and joy that can be discovered each day at any facet of ones journey."
