The mission of The Whitewater Arts Alliance is to support, promote, and develop the visual and performing arts through an alliance of artists, organizations, businesses, education, and individuals to foster creativity, diversity, and economic vitality in the Whitewater area.
Jana Waller grew up in the Whitewater area. She is a graduate of Fort Atkinson High School and UW-Whitewater but has no formal art education beyond high school. She has always considered art as a hobby.
Jana works in the medium of acrylic and oil paints on canvas. Her love of Whitetail deer hunting with both bow-n-arrow and rifle flows over to her paintings, which usually have an outdoor theme with an emphasis of animals. Her vivid colors and details give her paintings a unique style that is easily recognizable as a Jana Waller painting.
“Painting is a great way to unwind and enjoy simply creating something from a blank canvas”, commented Waller. “I hope to show that painting is something that anyone can do. That beauty is in the eye of the creator and there is no right or wrong way to do it. If you enjoy it, that is all that matters!”
Jana’s father, Paul Joseph was born and raised in Whitewater. Art and hunting are the hobbies they share. After retiring, Paul has the luxury of spending more time exploring his passion for painting.
Working with oils and acrylics on canvas, Paul’s subjects range from portraits to floral. Many of his works also have a Western/ American Indian theme. Bold brush strokes and bright colors reflect a strong style that is distinctly Paul’s. He often gives his paintings as gifts and has donated them to Whitewater area organizations or groups to raise money.
“People truly appreciate a portrait of a family member or a pet. It’s a gift they can keep forever”, said Joseph.
Jana and Paul are excited about their Father / Daughter Art Show. This is their first Gallery Show. Join us at our reception.
