2011, A Year in Review at WAA
Hello!
The Whitewater Arts Alliance had a great year, and we thank each of you for the support that you have given us. Here are just a few of the highlights from 2011:
We were fortunate to be able to schedule an exhibit every month! These included the very popular quilt show, the return of the Whitewater High School student art show, the second annual Fran Achen Photography show, and our annual members' exhibit.
Performance once again played an important role in our schedule. The UW-W Theatre/Dance Dept. presented Dear Liar, and students performed The Last Days of Judas Iscariot.
Music graced our stage, as the Lincoln African Drummers treated us to an amazing concert. The addition of Savory Sounds in the summer months made the lawn at the Cultural Arts Center the place to enjoy lunch and fine music.
The WAA was recognized by the state Wisconsin Regional Arts Program for the Greatest Increase in the Number of Artists Participating in a Regional Exhibit.
Downtown Whitewater awarded the WAA for the "Best Downtown Image Campaign" for our Public Art Project.
Plans for 2012 are well underway and include the return/expansion of Savory Sounds, another fully booked year of exhibits, and even more performance events at the CAC. Please join us for the 2011 Annual Members' Meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 7:00PM. for a full update on our activities and Board elections!
We hope you will join us as a member! The WAA is a self-supporting, non-profit grop, and we rely on our members and our community! Attached is the information necessary to renew or begin your first membership in the Whitewater Arts Alliance. If you are a member already, we ask that you attempt to bring one new member to us through our "Each One Reach One" campaign. If you had a membership previously or have just thought about joining, what better time to add you support?
If you are interested in becoming a member,
please fill out this form out. Please complete and return it as soon as possible. Memberships run from January through December. (If you join after July 1, the rate is reduced by half.)
We also encourage you to "give the gift of art" this holiday season (and all year long!) Maybe you can purchase an original piece of art for someone special, or consider giving a membership to a student or friend who has expressed an interest in becoming a member. Stop in and peruse our array of colorful cards that might make a good stocking stuffer!
We also thrive because of the work of our volunteers. Even if you only have a few hours to give, we would welcome you! Maybe you could consider becoming a docent, or you would like to help hang a show. Perhaps you are a great baker and could donate a few goodies for a reception. Let us know how you might be able to help!
Let's work together to make 2012 the best year yet for the Whitewater Arts Alliance!
