Edward S. Curtis Original Works at the
Crossman Gallery
The photographs of Whitewater born artist Edward S. Curtis are coming to the Crossman Gallery from September 12 through October 22. Curtis produced an immense archive of Native American photographs by creating over 40,000 images over the course of 30 years. Both Teddy Roosevelt and financier J. P. Morgan championed his work. This exhibit is being drawn from Curtis exhibition that has been traveling internationally and has broken long-standing attendance records at the inaugural exhibition in Paris.
The Arts Alliance is one of several local groups supporting this exhibit. Watch for updates on the events that will be connected with this exhibition. Are you interested in helping? Contact Rick Fassl at 473-8228 ext 35 or randix@sbcglobal.net
Whitewater is a community of artists and YOU are one of them!
The word ART is small, but mighty. While many people think you have to draw, paint, sculpt, perform, or create to be an artist, there is more to it. The definition is much broader. The word ART can be a part of many phrases, for example:
The art of participation
The art of conversation
The art of entertaining
The art of citizenship
We all create and perform in a variety of ways on a daily basis. This broadened, all encompassing, definition is the one to which the Arts Alliance subscribes. As an organization we need individuals, organizations, and businesses who will use their “art” to enhance the Alliances ability to be a vital part of Whitewater’s art scene.
What is your art?
Publicity! Organization! Energy! Enthusiasm! Citizenship!
Join the Alliance, or if you are already member, decide what you are able and willing to do to make a difference and enhance the art scene in Whitewater!
